How to build confidence in your child

Confidence plays an important role in the upbringing of a child and every parent wants their child to be confident. Not having self confidence can really make a major difference both mentally and the way the child behaves with other students. If your child is confident then he/she is aware of their negatives and positives. On the other hand having no confidence means failure in tasks, no matter how smaller and simpler they are.

Following are the ten ways through which you can build the confidence in your child-

* You should always try to appreciate your child when he/she has accomplished something and tell them that you are really proud of them. Let your child hear you when praising him in front of others.

* Give your child responsibilities and tasks to do in the house, as this will make them feel good inside. Assign them small tasks on regular basis which will help in gaining confidence in them.

* Never try to label your child because this is the worst that you will do for your child. It has been found that sometimes the parents make use of the physical qualities like being unattractive of the child to label them. Try not to use foul wordings; it leaves negative impact on your child.

* Mark all the good qualities of your child and out of those qualities boost one thing that your child is interested in following. You can also get your child registered at music or drama classes so that your child gets to do extremely well in his field of interest.

* When you listen to your child, they feel good and confident about themselves. Thus, listen with complete attention to whatever that they have to tell you. Don’t make them feel that you are not interested in listening to them; otherwise they will not discuss anything with you. They will be forced to think that their values and opinions are not appreciated.

* Make sure that you have some routines in the house and those should be predictable in nature, then only your child will feel safe and protected. Your child will feel more confident to come home whenever he/she will have any doubt. If there are some set routines, your child will be aware of their expectations and try their best to fulfill them.

* It will be much better that you call your child by his/her name because this will make them feel that they have some importance. This will also generate a feeling of confidence and your child will learn to address the other person by their name. Calling them by their name will give the feeling that they are grown ups now.

* If your child is fond of playing some game like soccer, then try to accompany your child for the local matches and spend time with them, as this helps in building up their confidence. You can take the help of a game to teach your child confidence, power to accept loss, team spirit and meaning of being a good sport. Try to praise their game when you are playing with them.

* As parents you should build some rules and their outcome for your child, this generates the sense of security in them. When you have rules, your child will realize that these rules are for them and their parents really do care for them. It has been found that majority of the youngsters are of the view that the rules framed by their parents are only for their betterment only.

* Make your child realize that you really like their company and try to project positive reactions in front of them. Always make your child feel that you really value them then only they will become confident.
