How you can prevent your child from becoming obese

Childhood obesity has become as one of the emerging problems across the world. According to some surveys, around twenty-five percent of children are overweight and fifteen percent of the teens are obese. About eighty percent of the teens are expected to become obese on approaching their adulthood. The obese children are often prone to high blood pressure, asthma problem and it can also damage the bones.

It has been proven that exercising helps in preventing obesity, but younger generation today does not devote much time towards working out, thus as parents you should encourage your child to take active part in the sports activities. You should make sure that the physical activities are done on regular basis so that the fat is not gathered in the body.

You can keep a check on your child’s diet and should not allow him/her excess of chocolates, ice cream and sweets. Soda drinks are also not good for the human body, as they contains high amount of calories and sugar. Every time you buy something you buy something eatable for your child make sure it is healthy, low fat and high fiber. Discourage use of soft drinks, junk food and fast food snacks. Cut down the storage of carbohydrate rich food in your fridge; instead store your kitchen with healthy items like cheese, fruits and nuts. Junk food is a major source of calories and has less nutritional value.

Try and provide your child with homemade food that will help prevent obesity in your child. Encourage your child to exercise or play outdoor games for half at least 30 or 60 minutes in a day. If your child hesitates, you can play his favorite games with him.

If your child likes to play soccer then play with him in, go for swimming with him or you can also go for long walks. You can make your child join some sports activities like gymnastics, karate, soccer or basketball.

It is very important that you should keep a check on the weight of your child. Majority of the parents are not aware that their child is getting obese, which is why the preventive measures don’t start on time.

It is very important parents should keep a check on their child’s eating habits, as healthy eating can make a major difference in a fight against obesity. If you want to prevent your child from becoming obese, then make sure that your child takes balanced diet and exercises regularly.
